ABOUT Njord - New Nordic Music Biennale

NJORD is the name of a Nordic God especially connected to the sea and the winds. The sea and the winds connect people as well as the different Nordic countries. NJORD New Nordic Music Biennale is built on these connections and focus on the many values, we share in the Nordic countries.

With NJORD we wish to
-  create new, Nordic collaborations around multi-disciplinary projects
-  create events in which a broad audience, curious of art can find themselves mirrored
-  contribute to the communication around new art music with dialogues and public talks for adults as well as pedagogical projects for children

Every other year, NJORD Biennale presents one or more renowed, Nordic composers or artists in residence. Guided by a yearly theme, we explore the relationship between music, visual arts, and poetry through concerts, seminars and talks.

NJORD Biennale was founded in 2014 by Jane Schwarz, Hélène Navasse, Hans Peter Stubbe Teglbjaerg and Ingeborg Okkels. NJORD runs as an association and is funded from project to project.

NJORD Biennale runs for the third time January 30th - February 02nd - 2020.

NJORD, Njǫrðr, is one of the principal Gods of the Vanir tribe of deities, and the father of Frej and Freja.
